Responsibilities of the Committee:

Our committee has a range of important tasks to ensure safety within the SERLEPC boundaries:

  • We'll carry out hazard assessments at all fixed and mobile sites.
  • We're tasked with reviewing the Emergency Response Plans from our Municipal and Industrial Members.
  • We'll organize and oversee various drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Our role includes evaluating response capabilities and identifying any resource gaps.
  • We'll review and coordinate with Federal, State, and local plans to ensure seamless integration with SERLEPC's planning efforts.
  • Assessing municipal resources and procedures for public notification during a hazardous materials emergency is key.
  • We aim to enhance and implement an effective emergency notification system to ensure robust communication during emergencies.
  • Developing protocols for collaboration with neighboring jurisdictions is also on our list.
  • Lastly, we will explore funding options to enhance Emergency Warning Systems that benefit all members and territories of SERLEPC.

 

Role of the Emergency Management Coordinator:

The Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Pasadena, or their delegate, will take on the vital role of Emergency Coordinator. This role involves:

  • Handling public requests for information under Section 324, including Tier Two information under Section 312.
  • Assisting the Secretary and Treasurer with records management and financial affairs.
  • Acting as a voting member of the Executive Committee and as an ex-officio member of all committees, ensuring a comprehensive approach to emergency management and coordination across the board.
